Davidson Ngibuini, a Kenyan gospel rapper, chose the title Disciple in God, aka DNG, because he hoped to spread the Gospel through his hip-hop music.

A diploma holder of business marketing, DNG writes his own songs in Kiswahili and English using real life situations as the basis.

His hard work saw him win Best African Gospel Male act at the 2004 Kora Awards. This was for his song, Samehewa, (Forgiven) taken off his debut album, My Testimony.

DNG is now in Uganda for a series of performances. He also hopes to promote his album, My Testimony, which was released late last year. He was accompanied by Kevin Maina (K2), an accomplished dancer.

DNG has been performing at gigs with local artistes especially Maurice Kirya. He has already performed at Lubiri S.S and Club Rouge. DNG is also scheduled to perform at the Mafikizolo concert tonight at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala. He is also looking at the prospect of doing collaborations with prominent Ugandan gospel and inspiration artistes.

DNG also admires American rappers LL Cool J and DMX. He says that the late Kenyan rapper E-Sir, influenced him a lot.

Although Hip-hop is his main thing, his versatility sees him handle ragga, R&B and rock. His use of various producers is reflected in the uniqueness of the songs, with each track sounding fresh and different.

Mpenzi (Love), what he calls the first Gospel love song, is a soothing R&B treat with nice hooks on which he softly raps against moving back-up vocals. Other songs that stand out on the album are: True Love, Anza Tena, Temptation, Hold On, Mimi and Ni Vipi.
