IT CANVASSED for support for the multiparty political system leading to the 2000 referendum on political system. This was amidst vehement opposition from would-be close allies in the cause. But Action Party (AP) is no more.

The party’s executive committee on Wednesday closed shop hardly two years in existence.

In a statement signed by the party president, Nelson Ocheger, the committee cited unfavourable political environment as the only impediment for waning business.

Having its roots in action for the restoration of democracy, AP registered in 1999 as a pressure group to canvass for the multiparty political system.
