SIR — I have just read Henry Barlow’s poem When I am dead and gone.
I never met Barlow at all but was inspired by his poetry. He was a great man. Being an established poet made him even greater.

That, to me, inspires a bigger world for he left a legacy many of us probably only dream of.

As the poem ends, “But let my bones feel/ The warmth of the sun after rain/ Let flowers grow on my grave/ Let them wave and smile over me/ As i have smiled over this world.

Barlow will always be a great artist for those who appreciate the literary arts. Henry, you are gone but your smile will ever be on those you touched through your life, service and most of all, poetry. Is it not said that “They live that leave works of art”?
