KCC accountant charged with fraud
A Kampala City Council (KCC) accountant and purchasing officer, Apollo Turyamusiima, has been charged with embezzling over sh1b.

A Kampala City Council (KCC) accountant and purchasing officer, Apollo Turyamusiima, has been charged with embezzling over sh1b.
Turyamusiima, who is facing 31 counts of forgery, uttering false documents and obtaining money by false pretence, has since been remanded in Luzira Prison until September 7.
Turyamusiima denied the charges before Nakawa Chief Magistrate Deo nizeimaana on August 24. Prosecution alleges that he obtained the money from account No 0102267510 for the KCC teachers salaries in 15 transactions at Stanbic Bank Ltd corporate bra-nch on as many cheques purported to have been signed by James Seggane, Muwonge Kewaza and Basil Bataringaya.
