THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has disputed last week’s elections for MPs and district chairpersons in the new districts.

FDC Electoral commission chairperson Maj. Rubaramira Ruranga said there were massive irregularities in the polls, orchestrated by NRM and the Electoral Commission (EC).

Addressing a weekly press briefing yesterday at FDC Villas in najjanakumbi, Ruranga said State agents intimidated and flogged voters in Bukedea district.

He accused Nakapipirit RDC Baker Mugabi and Peace Mutuluza of State House youth desk of harassing and intimidating voters in Bukedea.

Ruranga said FDC agents were denied a chance to execute their duties and EC officials allowed unregistered people to vote.

Flanked by FDC secretary for foreign affairs Reagan Okumu and spokesperson Wafula Oguttu, Ruranga demanded that Parliament enacts a law that delinks the EC from NRM and the Presidency as all Commonwealth countries recognise that electoral commissions must be independent and people must have confidence in them.

On the ongoing peace talks between the Government and the LRA rebels, Okumu said both parties are responsible for the atrocities that have been inflicted on northerners for that last 20 years.

He said Kony was a creation of President Yoweri Museveni, whom he said is not seen as an angel in the north. “Museveni and Kony are the same,” he said.
