SADOLIN Power will bid to reach their 11th consecutive MTN basketball league playoffs when they take on seventh-placed Kampala International University (KIU) today at Lugogo.

Power are the favourites to snatch a victory in the expected classic battle after winning the first round encounter against the same side and they also have home court advantage since their 90-77 triumph over Livingstone a week ago.

Allan Tawodda, the hero during Power’s demolition of Makerere University’s Livingstone, will be expected to continue his scoring form when he comes up against KIU’s Emma Baguma.

But the confident KIU who have Isaac Afidra, Henry Mwinuka and Mark Orom back in the team, head into the game highly motivated in their quest for victory. The two stars could prove a deadly combination that adds up to an upset for Power.

The Kasanga-based team wants to pick up maximum points so as to improve to sixth place on the table.

The players are also keen to inflict the pain of defeat that they experienced in the first round onto the Power squad.

Meanwhile, an earlier meet at Lugogo sees sixth-placed Makerere Youth Heaters tackle Blue Jackets who are languishing in eighth position on the Yello Go table standings.

Kampala International University Rangers’ encounter with Kyambogo comets at the KIU courts is expected to be the women’s highlight league game today.
