The UN Higher commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is planning to open up access roads in districts that were affected by the LRA insurgency to help displaced persons return to their villages. UNHCR country representative Cynthia Burns said on Tuesday they would assist district authorities to open up the roads. “We shall provide spare parts and fuel to the districts to facilitate this process,” she told envoys and representatives of humanitarian organisations.

Blood target

Nakasero Blood Bank needs 6,000 units of blood to rejuvenate its stock, the Blood Donor Transfusion Services manager has said. Paul Kaggwa said they expect to raise 1,400 units from donors at the constitutional Square where the donation drive started on Monday and ends tomorrow. By yesterday noon, he said, they had collected 621 units.

Cops held
KAMULI
The Police are holding two policemen in connection with the theft of railway property at Nakakabala in Buzaaya sub-county. Sgt. Zaituni Wamusono, the officer in charge of Kasambira Police Post and Private Peter Lukalu were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion that they connived with thieves to uproot one kilometre of the rail near the post, RDC Dr. Ahmed Doka said.
