KENNETH Kamyuka was in top batting form with a blazing unbeaten 86 runs off 71 balls that inspired Africa CC to a four wicket victory over Tornado B in their second tie of the Castle Super Five league on Sunday.
The top order right hand batsman proved his prowess with six boundaries and five sixes on a familiar Jinja wicket, spreading balls in all directions with able support from Charles Lwanga, who rediscovered his form, with a quick 45 off 38 balls.
Put in to bat, William Kibuka Musoke’s team found themselves in murky waters, with the top order collapsing to man-of-match Kamyuka (2-24) and Junior Kwebiiha (3-46) as they set Africa 190 with only Emmanuel Kibirango (38) outstanding.
ACC overhauled the set score with 20 overs at hand.
At Entebbe oval, Henry Okecho’s Tornado was exposed by Castle Development XI side despite winning the tie by 61 runs.
The champions nearly suffocated in front of the less experienced Castle XI, struggling to 45-4 in 20 overs before Frank Nsubuga (41) elevated the score to a disgraceful total of 129-8.
Castle however failed to defend their good show with miserable batting that only had David Meya (11) hit double figures after the rest failing the pace attack of Charles Waiswa (3-18), Mark Taremwa (3-30) and spinner Frank Nsubuga (3-8).
In the Plate tie, Patidar CC showed little respect for Nile thumping them by nine wickets at Kyambogo oval.
Nile were restricted to 79-8 by Patel Hasmukh (4-30), a score U-19 star Mauneek Solanki (50) single handedly overhauled.
Action turns to the Luswata knockout Cup slated for Sunday at various grounds.
