Women MPs swear in tomorrow

DISTRICT women Members of Parliament for the newly created districts will be sworn in tomorrow and not on Tuesday as earlier announced.

DISTRICT women Members of Parliament for the newly created districts will be sworn in tomorrow and not on Tuesday as earlier announced.

The Clerk to Parliament, Aeneas Tandekwire said the ceremony was postponed following the adjournment of Parliament to tomorrow.

In a Friday statement, he said his office had received information from the Electoral Commission that the elected district woman representative for Namutumba district was Lydia Kibwika Nyago and not Florence Tibafana Mutyabule as previously announced.

The 11 Women MPs to be sworn in are Nyago (Namutumba), Margaret Achila Aleper (Kotido), Grace Akech Okorimoe (Abim), Concy Aciro (Amuru), Pherry Kabanda (Budaka) and Beatrice Mpairwe (Buliisa).

Also Cecilia Ogwal (Dokolo), Beatrice Amongi (Oyam), Oliver Wonekha (Bududa), Rose Okullu Akol (Bukedea) and Grace Namara (Lyantonde).
