SIR — Sometime ago, an extra digit was added onto the existing phone numbers which were nine— three for the prefixes, and six for the subscriber number.
Now we have 10 digits but what is confusing is we don’t know where to put the new extra digit. People are so confused that everyone writes them their own way. Examples of how we write them: 0772-xxxxxx; 075-2-xxxxxx; 071-2xxxxxx. When one wants to send their phone numbers to associates abroad, they need to know the country code, area code (prefix), and the subscriber number.
Therefore someone needs to correct this so that we know how to write our phone numbers properly.
