MANKO Kaweesa struck a breathtaking winner to secure the Uganda Hippos a semi-final place in the U-20 CECAFA youth championship in Bujumbura.

The lanky URA FC midfielder, who was given the chance to show what he can do from a set-piece, responded with a well executed free-kick from 20-yards for his fourth goal of the tournament.

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday and Thursday.

THE final of the Northern region Super mini-league will be played on September 20 in Gulu, reports Norman Katende.

FUFA competitions committee administrative secretary Aisha Nalule yesterday said they had changed the date from September 23 to September 20 because the Kakungulu Cup final will be played on that day.

“We decided the date and named a neutral ground which is Gulu, since it is not a home to both the teams,” said Nalule.

The 2006-7 Super League starts November 13.
