IT is a fantastic achievement on its own for Maji FC to be in the Kakungulu Cup final today.

The question likely to develop though on everyone’s lips, is can local football’s ‘small ’ team survive the intensity of a final against Express? A final that has understandably been billed as a clash between the haves and have-nots?

“There will be no fear of Express. We respect them, but don’t fear them,” Maji tactician Salim Isabirye stressed.

“We want to go there and win the final.”

What Isabirye has in mind is that cup competitions have a notorious habit of producing upsets.

Remember URA FC thumping KCC FC in the 2005 final?

Maji, a name that has brought Express FC cold sweat with identical slim 3-2 victories in both rounds this season, are relishing their first ever final.

They ejected fancied Simba FC in the semi-finals and will look to goal hero Yusuf Serumaga (inset) for goals.

Express, seeking their ninth title, are favourites in every sense. The attacking talent they possess is breathtaking. Nicholas Kabali will come through the left, Tony Odur from the right.

Acting coach Kefa Kisala intends to go all out, by fielding three forwards, Odur, Hassan Muburi and Moses Aduni.

“We are going to play an attacking game right from the start. It’s the only chance for silverware we have,” Kisala said.
