THE High Court will on Monday hear Justice Richard Oscar Okumu-Wengi’s application challenging his interdiction.

Justice Dan Akiiki-Kiiza, will hear the application.

Okumu-Wengi argues that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) failed or refused top follow the principles of natural justice before it recommended investigations against him.

Represented by Omunyokol and Company Advocates, Okumu-Wengi contended that his interdiction as judge of the High Court was illegal, as the JSC denied him chance to defend himself against allegations of gross misconduct.

He further argued that the JSC, in beach of natural justice took the extreme decision against him for his removal as a judge by referring the matter to the President as a result of which he (President) appointed a tribunal to investigate him and also suspended him from performing his judicial duties.

The judge said the JSC refused to inform him of the particulars of the alleged offence he committed and it did not give him the right to defend himself before it, nor give him an opportunity to engage an advocate of his own choice.

He said it refused to set up an enquiry to investigate the allegations.
