FORMER national coach Joseph Kaamu is the new chairman of the chess federation UCF.
Kaamu, who was a member of the caretaker committee, was returned unopposed at the elections at Lugogo on Saturday.
Jasper Pkwiyuli had to go through a second round of elections to beat John Kikonyogo to the vice chairman’s post.
Kaamu promised to unite the chess fraternity in his two- year term. “I thank you for your votes and promise that the new executive is going to be your servant,” Kaamu said.
“The chess community is so small that we can’t afford to have divisions any longer.”
Secretary is Godfrey Gali, treasurer Albert Otete, publicity secretary Vianney Luggya and national coach Dr George Zirembuzi.
Sixteen members from eight clubs participated in the elections supervised by National Council of Sports.
