PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has warned civil servants to stop frustrating and obstructing investors.

Museveni said the public and civil servants should facilitate the private sector. He was speaking at the opening of the 4th meeting of the Presidential Investors Round Table (PIRT) at Kampala Serena Hotel.

A State House statement yesterday said the three-year-old body, with over 70 international and local investors, met on Thursday to review its recommendations to the Government in its quest to create, maintain and enhance a favourable investment environment.

The President chaired the meeting.
Museveni commended members of PIRT for being committed partners of Uganda in her bid to improve the investment environment.

He was happy to note that a number of recommendations had been fulfiled, such as the prioritisation of the teaching of science subjects in secondary schools, support to tertiary institutions, recognition of scientists and the funding of science institutions by the Government and development partners.

He singled out the creation of the information communication technology ministry, zero tolerance to corruption and the restructuring of the Uganda Investment Authority as some of the achievements registered.

He told members about changes like the realisation of true multipartism based on real politics not sectarianism.
