Fimbo, the long waited second album by the UK-based dynamic musical duo, Da Twinz, hits the streets today.
Da Twinz recently fell out with their Ugandan promoter over irregular dealings and they wound up suing him. Consequently, the duo decided to open up their own music label in Uganda to distribute and promote their album.
Dennis Mugagga, the lead singer of the Da Twinz, says Fimbo, an 8-track album, is meant for the international market. “The music is sung in different languages and features foreign stars,” he says.
Among the featured artistes are Naila Boss of BMG records. 20-year-old Naila, a UK-based singer of Nigerian origin, but grew up in Hackney, East London, is one of the few and top female rappers in the UK who doubles as an MC.
Naila lends her rapping skills and silky voice to Da Twinz’s Africa, one of the songs on the album.
Ali Baba features on Talk and Sleep while Tanzania’s Bushoke sings on Njo Hapa, which has become a popular song on WBS TV and EATV.
Other songs on the album are: Omunene, Mpola Mpola, Vunja and the title track, Fimbo. Vunja and Fimbo are sung in Kiswahili. Omunene and Mpola Mpola are Luganda songs.
