Drivers working with various tourist organisations have formed an association in preparation for the commonwealth Heads of government meeting (CHOGM) next year.
The Uganda Safari drivers Association (USADA) was formed by 40 drivers during a three-week course at Mweya Safari Lodge in the Queen Elizabeth nati-onal Park in Kasese recently.
“The association aims at professionalising the driving sector in the tourism industry,” the chairman, Hebert Byaruhanga, said.
He said USADA would organise more courses to equip drivers with skills to handle tourists.
Officiating at the awarding of certificates, the director of operations in-charge of tourism in the Madhvani Group, A. R. Khan, said professionalising the tourism industry was long over due.
