Accused of adultery, born-again Hadija kiganda may lose her 20-year-long status as wife.
Hadija is married to Mengo-based Focus Christian Centre’s Pastor, David Kiganda.
Hadija on Sunday sat in the compound of their posh Makindye home in Kampala to answer to 11 charges, including adultery, rudeness to her husband and financial impropriety.
In an open-air court composed of about 20 pastors and other born-again Christians, Hadija read in Luganda a two-page typed defence.
She apologised for the wrongs, asked for pardon, but came short of admitting adultery.
She said financial constraints forced her to enter business relations with Hussein Mukwasi, who Kiganda described as a chapatti vendor and second hand phones dealer.
Yokana Kutegeera chaired the meeting. He quoted from the Bible, saying, “For all the other mistakes you could be forgiven, but for adultery, the Bible says in Judges 19 that upon your death your corpse should instead of burial be dismembered into 11 parts and the parts should be scattered across the 11 different areasâ€.
Kiganda said his leadership in the church was in a crisis after the devil invaded his home.
