Busoga palace work stalls

WORK on the Kyabazinga’s palace (Igenge) has stalled. The sh6.5b project at Wanyange hill in Bugembe, Jinja district, was expected to be complete by January 2008.
President Yoweri Museveni, during the last presidential campaigns, ordered for the immediate start of the re-construction of the 42-year-old palace that was vandalised in the 1960s.
Mugoya construction won the tender to re-develop the palace but it pulled out due to a delay by the Government to release funds. About 40% of the work has been done.
