THE Archbishop of Kampala, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has unveiled his plan of action. He said his top priority would be “grass-root evangelisation.”

“With faith and adequate evangelisation, we can achieve a lot in our fight against spiritual poverty,” Lwanga said.

He said his second priority was social development to assist people in the fight against material poverty, especially in rural areas.

“We call upon the Government to work hand-in-hand with the faith-based and civil society organisations in the development,” Lwanga said, quoting Pope Paul VI encyclical letter in which the Holy See described development as the new name for peace.

Lwanga, who was installed as Archbishop of Kampala on september 30, was opening this year’s Archdiocesan Pastoral Council on Saturday at Pope Paul VI Memorial Community Centre in Rubaga. This was his first public meeting since his installation. The meeting ended on Sunday.
