HARDLY two years ago, nobody knew him or had even heard of his music. Eng. David Kateregga developed his musical talent while in Luzira Prison less than two years ago.
With the verve to make it big in music business, Kateregga launched his maiden album, titled Meridah, at Sabrina’s Pub last Friday. But as a novice in this business, it was expected that an average crowd would attend the launch concert. But nothing could stop Kateregga from delivering his best. However, before he could grace the stage, artistes like Jose Chameleone, Qute Kaye, Phina ‘Masanyalaze’ Mugerwa, Gentle King, Bebe Cool and a string of upstarts kept the audience afloat.
Emerging from the audience, Kateregga then made a grand entrance to a big applause. He did songs like Lyakukyegulo and other Kisoga tracks before hitting a crescendo with Meridah, the title track of his album. And that was the night’s highlight. But whether his music transfers well to larger venues remains to be seen.
