For most people, shopping for a digital camera is a difficult task. This is because of the limited knowledge about the technology. Judith Nakamiya ll the same, do not give up. A little information, some planning, and Internet reviews can make the process less traumatic, says Nakamiya.
Comas Ojara, an information technology specialist at Serial and Matrix Computers on Kampala Road says, “Like personal computers, cell phones or cars, digital cameras come in many sizes, shapes and configurations.
Ojara says to determine which camera is best for you, consider the image quality, performance, ergonomics, and style, plus your level of photographic skills.
According to the PC magazine, the higher the mega pixels, the more expensive the camera, yet your needs could be achieved with the camera that has smaller pixels. Ratings will determine how large your printed images will be, and how much you can crop the images and still retain an acceptable quality.
Henry Muloki, a camera technician on Wilson Road, says image quality is a useful measure when by a camera. Most digital cameras produce good images, with colour fidelity, sharpness and dynamic range that satisfies most users.â€
Image capabilities are rated by the sharpness and the percentage of transition pixels on a subjects edges (the fewer the better), colour reproduction and exposure accuracy. Digital Cameras are getting faster, but they are still slower than film cameras.
Jimmy Adriko, the New Vision photo editor says, “Taking digital photos can be as simple as pointing the camera and pressing the shutter button. But digital cameras can provide as much control over exposure, colour, dynamic range as you want. Consider extras like in camera red eye removal and panorama modes.â€
Adriko says in general, one should pick a camera that takes better pictures over one with many features. You can always remove red eye later, but you cannot add in detail what a poor camera missed.
