SHELL has launched Shell Unleaded Extra, an advanced variant of unleaded petrol.
The new fuel is designed to prevent the build-up of harmful deposits so as to enable engines run more efficiently and form a protective film over vital engine parts to protect against corrosion.
Ivan Kyayonka, the country chairman, said on Thursday that the new fuel was a result of Shell’s continuous research and development initiatives meant to meet customers’ needs.
“As a leading fuel company, we know that we are offering the very best products in the market. We will continue to anticipate and deliver the diverse products and service requirements that exceed expectation,” he said.
“Indeed customer service is at the heart of everything we do and it is demonstrated here with this unique product launch,” Kyayonka said.
He said Shell was the first to launch unleaded petrol in 2003 and it had gone a step further to introduce Unleaded Extra that offers engines extra protection at no extra cost.
He stressed that the new product builds on the success of Shell’s competitive pricing strategy and would be sold at no extra cost.
Kyayonka said Shell fully supported the Government’s drive to phase out leaded fuel in the market by December 2005.
He commended the Government for taking the lead to ensure that business activities are not affected by this transition.
“Lead is toxic and harmful to health and environment. The phasing out of lead will enable Uganda to enjoy the benefits of new vehicle technology,” he said.
specifically the inclusion of the catalytic converter in vehicle exhaust systems,” said Kyayonka.
