JOHN Bosco Ssebabi crowned a great year by emerging Mr Uganda 2006 a month after winning an African championship bronze.
The 27-year-old Nakivubo body-builder shrugged off stiff competition from Fahad Mugaga in the welter-weight preliminary stage at Lugogo.
He then utilised his free pause style to beat Isma Mukalazi and Ivan Byekwaso to the overall crown in the finals. Former champion Nsubuga Kawulu (Umoja Gym) was knocked out early in the heavyweight contest.
“I was fired up by the bronze I won in Egypt. If I could do it at continent level, why not in my own country?†Ssebabi wondered, after getting his trophy from Nile Breweries Brand manager Robert Kigula.
He won himself sh1m from main sponsors Nile Breweries and another trophy donated by a former bodybuilder Robert Kabuye. The New Vision and Rwenzori Beverages were the other sponsors.
