Maurice Kagimu (right) recently said the Government had allocated land to the Great Lakes Container Freight Station Ltd and Grain Bulk Handlers Ltd to construct a station for goods destined to Uganda in Tororo district.
“The President has allocated land in Tororo for the construction of an inland dry port so that cargo destined to Uganda and the rest of the Great Lakes region is handled at Tororo instead of Mombasa,†Kagimu said.
“The inland dry port is to shorten the time of receiving imports in Uganda and other countries. The port land is strategically located close to the railway line.â€
He added “We also want to encourage the President okay the development of another dry port at Namanve industrial park, to enable traders clear their goods easily.â€
