DON'T look elsewhere but come at our shops. This was the untold message, set by fashion designer Betty Kabuubi of Little Red Boutique and Jalal Al Achkar, MD of La Vie Boutique.

The two on Saturday held a joint fashion show at Hotel Diplomate's romantic View Point. The picturesque setting, which commands a breathtaking view of Kampala by night matched well with the occasion whose chief guest was Bonney Katatumba.

The casual, office, and weekend outfits exhibited were as nice as the models. The average crowd that showed up at the high point saw men hollering and speaking in whispers as micro-minis and shorts revealing plenty of skin, were showcased by female models.

The female guests too cheered the ‘hunks’ with expressions such as “wow” filling the air. Little Red exhibited female stuff and La Vie, the gent’s collection.

Kabuubi, who plans to launch her own label soon and take it to London, designs African wear and matches it with foreign brands, while Jalal specialises in importing garments, especially suits and shirts from Italy’s Vialli label. Jalal plans to open a branch at Garden City for Bridals only.

Looking resplendent in black, utl’s Fred Kigozi and one Lilian of KQ, won outfits from the two boutiques for being the night’s best-dressed guests. Kigozi will choose something of his taste from La Vie (shop6, Grand Imperial Hotel), while Lilian will get a casual outfit from Little Red at Shop 57, Cham Towers.

There was tension when Lillian of Blu*3 showed up first. Although the emcee Mugisha Mondo had to apologise for the mishap, the singer should have compared herself first with the winner and known that she was no match.

Smirnoff Ice, Wine Garage and Club Silk sponsored the event.
