UGANDA Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) president Celestine Mindra has urged boxers to observe their rights when signing contracts.

Mindra who doubles as Africa Boxing Union (ABU) general secretary, gave the advice yesterday while unveiling SAMA Promotions — the new promoters for Abdu Tebazalwa.

“Many times we get reports of mistreatment of boxers. Sometimes, promoters even fail to give boxers their money,” complained Mindra who advised the boxers to seek redress from the commission.

“I am happy that Tebazalwa, as a fighter, is back in active boxing after wasting a lot of time,” added Mindra. He urged promoters to be fair for the good of boxing.

Tebazalwa, formerly managed by Justin Juuko under JukBox Promotions, is lined up for his first fight of the year against Tanzanian Geoffrey Mawe on November 26.

The non-title bout at Little Flowers, puts ‘Cobra’ Tebazalwa in line for a Commonwealth elimination title.

Café Viva restaurant are co-sponsors of the fixtures that will also feature an amateur fight between lightweight Sharif Bogere and Baker Nsubuga.

The other professional bouts will have Adam Kassim taking on Akim Waibale, while Solomon Bogere will battle Matia Mujuni in super lightweight.
