SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP

Nov. 27: Somalia v Rwanda
Uganda v Sudan

CRANES coach Laszlo Csaba has a strategy to tame Uganda’s nemesis Rwanda, in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
“I have played against Rwanda once and I know how to handle them. I respect all my opponents but I am not afraid of any. I have both defensive and offensive tactics which we must stick to,” Csaba said.
Uganda will face off against Rwanda Nov. 30.
Rwanda’s regular tormentor-in-chief Jimmy Gatete has quickly recovered from his thigh injury well in time for the match.
The man, whose 2003 strike razed Uganda’s Nations Cup campaign, attended training yesterday.
“He is doing very well and I hope he won’t be down again with the injury,” coach Michael Nees said.
Gatete (right) will be the striker to watch when Rwanda face Cranes, Sudan and Somalia in group C of the two-week event.
Sweden-based midfielder Olivier Karekezi is expected in Kigali later this week.
Csaba, however, called for discipline and patriotism if the team is to get good results.
“Players must know that it’s an honour to be on the national team so they should concentrate. In future, I will not allow players to go and compete elsewhere when they are in camp. if one left the camp, got injured in another event his club would blame me,” Csaba fumed.
The coach said that he is building a solid national team. “In Uganda, we don’t have stars, I am just building a team. David Beckham is a star but did he leave the England camp to visit his wife?” Csaba asked.
