Are MPs serious?

SIR — It is sad that the Clerk to Parliament, Aeneas Tandekwire, announced the postponement of business by parliament until November 29. Strangely, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi is quoted in the press as saying, “the major reason for extending the recess is because there is no business for parliament.

SIR — It is sad that the Clerk to Parliament, Aeneas Tandekwire, announced the postponement of business by parliament until November 29. Strangely, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi is quoted in the press as saying, “the major reason for extending the recess is because there is no business for parliament. The executive has not generated business for the legislature.”
Amazingly, the Constitution says Parliament has power to make laws on any matter for the peace, order, development and good governance of Uganda.
Is it that the Eighth Parliament is another rubber stamp of the executive?
This is just the first year of the eighth parliament. Surely, the citizens of Uganda deserve better than this!
