A TOTAL of 170 students graduated at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (ICTU) at Nakawa on Saturday.

They were awarded diplomas and certificates in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

The Ministry of Education’s director of education, John Mbabazi Akiiki, said the ministry would increase funding to the institute, saying it appreciates the role of ICT.

He urged the graduands to use the skills gained from the institute in nation building and fighting against poverty.

The ICTU principal, Dr. Vincent Kasangaki, commended the Uganda Communications Commission for transforming the institute into an institution of higher learning offering specialised training in ICT-related disciplines.

The Registrar, Rosemary Odong, said the students had earned a gift of knowledge, skills and values.
