THREE people died and 23 suffered injuries when a Kampala-Mombasa bound Falcon bus crashed into a lorry near Mtito Andei in Coast Province, Kenya yesterday. Most of the occupants of the bus were Ugandan businessmen.

The Kenyan police declined to identify the deceased and the injured until their next of kin are informed. The Police said the incident occurred at 2:00am.

The driver of the lorry attempted to reverse into the highway and the speeding bus rammed into it, damaging the rear part of the truck. Two people died instantly, while the third died at Makindu sub-district hospital.

Passengers’ belongings were scattered at the scene as the police and wananchi combined efforts to rescue those trapped in the wreckage.
The road section is a black spot for fatal accidents.

Several Ugandans were injured near Mumias in Kenya when a Coast bus was involved in an accident last month.
