THE Bushenyi NRM executive has okayed the split of the district. This was during a consultative meeting between the NRM executive and district MPs at local government minister Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire’s residence in Kampala.

THE Bushenyi NRM executive has okayed the split of the district. This was during a consultative meeting between the NRM executive and district MPs at local government minister Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire’s residence in Kampala.
A source said Otafiire, who is also the district NRM chairman, called the meeting.
However, a source who attended the meeting said Otafiire, LC5 chairman Longino Ndyanabo and ministers Richard Nduhuura and Tarsis Kabwegyere opposed the move.
The district speaker, Joram Tibasiimwa, reportedly told the meeting that the issue had been already put on the council’s agenda following the memoranda he received from Sheema, Bunyaruguru and Buhweju counties demanding for district status.
The source said they agreed to support the motion during the council meeting.
