THE local government state minister, Hope Mwesigye, has urged Indians to invest in Uganda to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

Mwesigye was meeting the Indian minister for overseas affairs, Vayalar Ravi during her recent visit to New Delhi, her office said in a statement on Thursday.

Mwesigye said Uganda as a country gifted by nature, had emerged out as one of the world’s fastest growing economies.
“After a period of anarchy, civil wars and turmoil, Uganda has now put its house in order,” she said.

She said Uganda enjoys wide market access across the region through its regional and sub-regional integration efforts.

“As a member of the East African Community with a customs union and a market of 85 million, the population will swell to over 100 million providing a huge market,” Mwesigye said.

She encouraged investors to focus on agriculture, tourism and food processing. The minister said Uganda’s rich soils had given her a comparative advantage.
over the rest of the East African Counties thereby boosting the Agricultural sector.
