ABDU Tebazalwa (The Cobra) kept his promise never to lose to a southpaw with a second round knock out of cowardly Godfrey Mawe on Sunday night.
The knockout that came one minute into second round of the ten-round title tune-up fight at Little Flowers, puts the super featherweight Ugandan back into line for the Africa title contest.
Mawe started the bout throwing powerful punches that occasionally caught Tebazalwa, who remained composed the whole round.
The Tanzanian’s undoing came after the first 30 seconds of second round when he received two powerful right punches that floored him. He did not rise again.
“I told my fans I will not lose to Mawe and this knockout has just come so early for me. I warn all those who are in my way: I’m coming,†he said.
Mawe, who lost for the third time to Ugandans in a row, said that he was just unlucky and wants a rematch in Dar -es-Salam.
The night also witnessed Solomon Bogere miss his first national title in the third professional contest to settle for a draw against stylish Dragon Kidega in the super lightweight fight.
