MEN in Mbarara district have decried the increasing rate of molestation from their wives.

The men complain that their wives take the ‘emancipation of women’ propaganda to mean total equality in families.

“Cases of women battering or mistreating men are increasing. Men file more cases of assault,” a female local councillor in Mwizi sub-county in Rwampara said recently.

She said women had misinterpreted the cause of women emancipation.

The local leaders were meeting the district Woman MP, Emma Boona, (above) during a tour of the district recently.

Boona said it was wrong for women to interpret their rights to mean total equality in a family.

She said emancipation empowered men and women to have equal rights and say in family issues.

Police statistics in Mbarara also indicate a rise in domestic violence with men reporting their wives over bartering.

She said there was need to sensitise women on emancipation.
