He also threatened to close homes without latrines. He blamed crime in the town on the owners of dilapidated structures.

Jua Kali fair
KAMPALA

The Kampala Jua –Kali Metal Fabricators Association will participate in an exhibition in Tanzania from December 3 to 12.

Richard Kakooza, the association chairman, said on Tuesday that various products would be showcased at the week-long regional event. Jua Kali is Swahili for informal sector.

CERUDEB gets
KAMPALA

Centenary Rural Development Bank (CERUDEB) will build a new multi-storey headquarters on Kampala Road.

Peninnah Kasule, the company secretary, said the bank’s biggest customer base had led to congestion in its 25 branches.The bank has invited building and construction contractors to bid for the project.

Poor earnings
KAMPALA

Local coffee producers earn only $5b from the world’s total world market of $71b, President Yoweri Museveni said recently.

The President said this was due to Uganda was exporting raw coffee, State House said in a statement.

The statement said the President was speaking at the European Development Day conference in Brussels, Belgium.

In recent years, coffee provided 65% of Uganda’s export forex.
