Two MPs from the South Sudan Parliament visited Kaabong district to seek ways to construct a road linking the district to their country, reports Nathan Etengu.

Sabina Lokolong, the MP for Budi and Martin Odwar for Ikotos Payam, met Kaabong officials and expressed the need to open the Kapedo-Lomej-Kanataru-Lotukei road.

They also called for the opening of the Kanataru- Mibuy-Bira road. Each is about 60km long.
Kaabong LC5 chief Sam Lokeris said the meeting took place at Apoka rest camp in Kidepo national park.

“The MPs believe opening the roads will improve trade between Uganda and southern Sudan,” Lokeris said. He said a shorter route through Kidepo National Park was ruled out for fear of endangering the wildlife.
