Tabloid reports this week indicated that Capital FM DJ Hakeem quit Club Volts on Entebbe Road over payment disagreements.

It was reported that management had to pay him sh500,000 a month, but had reduced it to sh250,000. Apparently, Hakeem had to drag the club manager to the Police to get salary arrears amounting to sh2m. Volts director Hussein Shukery has issued a rebuttal.

He says that contrary to Hakeem’s claims that he left the club in protest, Shukery fired him due to consistent absenteeism and late-coming. He claims slicing Hakeem’s pay was a reflection of the work he was putting in. Shukery also protests claims by Hakeem that the latter allegedly quit the club after witnessing a manager raping a girl in the loos. Shukery is preparing to sue Hakeem for defamation.
