A RADICAL Muslim cleric has organised a national duwah (special prayer) “to ask God to punish” Mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje for ‘selling’ Muslim land.

Others facing the same fate are deputy Sheikh Twaib Mukuye, Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) chairman Hajji Hassan Basajjabalaba and secretary general Dr. Edris Kasenene.

Addressing a press conference at Mackay road yesterday, Sheik Nuhu Muzaata, Mubajje’s main opponent, said the prayers were organised with several Muslim leaders he declined to name.

Muzaata said muftis and sheiks from Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iran, Sudan, Kuwait, Rwanda, and Tanzania were to participate in the duwah.

He said the second duwah would be performed by a delegation of Muslims, which is scheduled to leave for pilgrimage in Mecca on January 10.

UMSC executive committee instituted a committee in July to investigate the irregular sale of plots 30, 102, 104 on William Street in Kampala and 12-16 on Port Bell road Luzira. Mubajje, Mukuye, Basajjabalaba and Kasenene were implicated. The report was, however, dismissed by UMSC executive members, on grounds that it was not neutral.
