Lugya among top 5

VIANNEY Lugya won his last two games to finish fifth at the World Amateur Chess championships that ended in Tripoli, Libya on Sunday.

VIANNEY Lugya won his last two games to finish fifth at the World Amateur Chess championships that ended in Tripoli, Libya on Sunday.

The 10-day event, that attracted 100 participants from 18 countries, had Morocco’s Ifad Hicham win gold. He also pocketed $1500 and was crowned FIDE Master.

The silver went to Egypt’s Talat Zinahoum while Tunisia’s Abbas Ali won bronze medal.
