Kawanda gets WAKISO The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology has donated laboratory equipment worth $60,000 (about sh106m) to Kawanda agricultural Research Institute. The equipment, to be used in the National Agricultural Biotechnology Centre laboratory, will detect genetically Modified Organisms that enter into the country. Council chief Dr. Peter Ndemere handed it to Emily twinamatsiko, the in-charge of research coordination at the National Agricultural Research Organisation.
URCS to train KAMPALA The Uganda Red Cross Society is to train 500 people in the city to fight cholera. Field coordinator for Kampala south Geoffrey Wambuya on Wednesday said the city was chosen because it is most affected by the epidemic. He said the two-week training, which begins today, will be held at Tal Cottages in Lubaga Division.
