MARUZI member of Parliament, David Ebong-Abongo, has launched a master development plan for his constituency.

The project, code-named, “Maruzi Local Government Development Forum”, aims at renovating access roads, health facilities, school infrastructure and provision of clean water sources.

Ebong, a former LC5 councillor, said that he would lobby funds from the Government’s Recovery & Development Plan for northern Uganda (2006/2009), non-governmental organisations and individuals.

“We request the Government to pilot the development in Maruzi since we already have a viable and vibrant plan in place,” he said.

The project also targets the involvement of several stakeholders in Apac district, local government and sub-county authorities in his constituency.

The stakeholders include politicians in three sub-counties and Apac town council, non-governmental organisations, religious, cultural, women, youth, and disabled leaders, the private sector and heads of departments.

Ebong said that with the project, there would be zero tolerance to corruption.
“No shoddy workmanship will be condoned. Any slight trace of abuse of office and financial mismanagement attracts immediate punishment.”

Ebong was overwhelmingly voted as MP for providing an ambulance vehicle for his constituents during his four-year tenure in office.

The 30-year-old MP’s 75% votes in the last Parliamentary elections, was an appreciation for development projects he initiated in the sub-county and the rest of Maruzi County.

“Ebong’s initiative saved people’s lives as the sick from rural areas would be hurried to Apac Hospital and other health centres in the region for treatment,” LC5 councillor, Chris Opio said.
