A pvr lets you pick up from where you left off

With the Christmas season here, one of the things bound to change is the number of people in the household. With more visitors, this means that the competition for items like televisions will be high.
But this does not have to be a problem, especially given DStv’s latest package — Personal Video Recorder. Now you can stop live TV whenever you want and pick up right where you left off.
Imagine recording all you’re programming automatically and watching it exactly when it suits you. This means that everyone in the house eventually gets to watch whatever they want.
DStv introduced the PVR decoder recently, the first of its kind in Uganda.
With the ability to record 80 hours of your favourite shows onto your decoder, it is also possible to pause, rewind and even watch two different channels while recording a third.
You press the pause button and the Personal Video Recorder decoder will begin recording!
But how exactly does it work? You simply navigate the Electronic Programming Guide and press record on your preferred programme.
The Personal Video Recorder decoder will take care of all the other time-consuming functions such as selecting the right channel, the date and time to record, all of which makes using it much easier than a DVD or VCR recorder.
To record from a PVR, select a programme form the i-Plate or TV Guide that you would like to record and press REC. The programme is now scheduled to be recorded and will be listed in the PVR Schedule. When the programme is paused, slide the Play/Pause button to the right and then release it.
To stop the fast-forwarding and resume viewing, press the Play/Pause button twice and remember that the fast forward feature is only applicable to a recorded environment.
To rewind when the programme is paused, slide the Play/Pause button to the left and then release it.

The PVR also has the dual view functional with the ability to record from a third channel while the other two are being watched.
