PALLISA district has twinned with Hudson Township Council in New York, under the Sister Cities International Programme.
In the arrangement, the two towns agreed to encourage exchange opportunities in the fields of arts, culture and tourism.
Robert Keno, an official of the sister cities programme, said the union would promote cultural diversity and boost economic development.
Elena Mosley, another official, revealed that they would give Pallisa books, computers and medical supplies.
In October, three Pallisa officials toured the US on the invitation of the programme management.
Mayor John Opolot, clerk Robert Okia and Eric Ogoso visited Cashin farm and Cornell cooperative extension in Hudson town.
The officials said they shared experiences on health care and education, which they promised to implement in Pallisa.
The sister cities programme is a non-profit organisation that links up other cities in the world to those in the US.
Its major objective is to enable sharing of goals and experiences to better the lives of those involved.
Pallisa was declared a member of the programme in October by the mayor of Hudson, Richard Tracy.
Eric Ogoso Opolot, a native of Pallisa working with the United Nations is a founder member of the initiative.
Recently, Entebbe and Kiira towns twinned with American cities.
The local government authority association also teamed up with the US one.
