DESPITE intense loadshedding, Mukwano Group of Companies has had a successful year, the managing director, Alykhan Karmali, has revealed, writes Francis Emorut.

“We had a power problem, bought many generators, fuel consumption was high and we contained two fires. We entered into the East African Community, which intensified competition.

Despite all these challenges, we have succeeded this year,” Karmali explained.

He attributed the company’s success to dedicated staff and God.

“Nothing in life is possible without God,” Karmali told employees during the end-of-year party at Lugogo Showgrounds in Kampala.

He said they employ 32,000 farmers in the north who grow sunflower.
