THE state minister for economic monitoring, Maurice Kagimu Kiwanuka, has advised Kabaka Ronald Mutebi to allow the construction of shops around the Lubiri palace.

Kiwanuka believes that the shops would enable traders operate from shops at minimal cost.

In a December 18 letter, Kagimu said: “During my Kampala monitoring tour, I have established that traders lack working space and Indians are charging them exorbitant fees for rent.”

The Kabaka appointed a committee to make proposals for the redevelopment of the palace.

The palace, which is situated on seven square miles, is the official residence of the Kabaka.
