ROCKY Giant is a promising artiste. Besides being best known for his current Rafiki single, Rocky is one of Uganda’s local hip-hop versatile artistes.

He has performed with top local artistes like Chameleone, Ragga Dee, Kefa Mwesigwa, Dorothy Bukiirwa, Mosh and Sweet kid. And now having put the last hand off his maiden album, Rafiki, 19-year-old Rocky has already been tipped by many to be an artiste to beat in 2005.

Loaded with eight tracks, the CD is a testimony of his potential exploits with his rap skills. His project features the production works of Hyper-Com’s Mark and True Vines Geoffrey.

Sung in Luganda and Swahili, they are all hip-hop songs with a unique blend of Tanzania’s bongo flavour.

The title track Rafiki has played on most local radio stations including Tanzanian based East Africa Radio and has already caused a stir on the local music scene.

“I always drive the crowd crazy where ever I perform this song,” says Rocky who started singing at a tender age while at Kiwuliriza Primary School in Kibuli.

He was a vocalist and instrumentalist in the school choir. Other tracks on this album include Chini Yawulinzi, Gwa Abarasi, Sitayibadirika, Bakupowe, Abalya Mere, Namunene and the remix of Abalya Mere.

The album will be released and launched in mid January.
