NABUMALI High school has increased fees by sh10,000 to cater for the reconstruction following the October 11, 2004 strike.

A Parents Teacher Association meeting held on Saturday resolved that each student pays an extra sh10,000 per term for the next five years for the project.

The increment raised the fees to sh260,000 per term.

The parents had rejected an earlier proposal by the executive committee to hike the fees by sh20,000.

They said the board of governors under the chairmanship of the Bishop of Mbale diocese and the PTA executive had imposed the sh20,000.

“We cannot envisage carrying out the reconstruction and renovation in one year. The best that can be done is to spread it over five years,” said Bernard Wolimbwa, a former NRC member.
