NEW Uganda Revenue Authority commissioners are to be appointed in yet another major restructuring which will affect over 50 senior managers.

URA Commissioner General Allen Kagina recently said 13 URA officers had been interviewed by the Board for the top posts.

“The interviews were conducted last week for commissioners and the appointments will be made this week,” said Kagina.

The Board chaired by Ibrahim Kironde Kabanda, is still interviewing other people within the organisation.

Under the new structure, five commissioners will be appointed to head the customs and excise, corporate services, legal, internal audit, tax investigation and internal affairs and domestic taxes departments. They will be directly answerable to the commissioner general.

Kagina said the restructuring would improve the efficiency of the organisation which has come under severe criticism from the public.

Several assistant commissioners will be appointed by February 4.
