WHOEVER lives by the sword shall die by it, so goes the saying.
The Tabliq deputy Amir, Sheik Abbas Kakooza, said yesterday that the Lord’s Resistance Army rebel leader, Joseph Kony, should be killed for his crimes against humanity.
“We hear that Kony is fighting for God, that he wants to rule this country using the 10 commandments but what he is doing is not in line with God. It is satanic. God should help us wipe out Kony in Uganda,” Kakooza said during the Idd Adhuha prayers at the Clock Tower grounds.
He said it was useless to hold peace talks with Kony since he had killed and was still killing thousands of Ugandans.
Kakooza, who led the prayers that were attended by hundreds of Muslims, said, “According Islamic teaching and faith, whoever kills or sacrifices a human being other than an animal, must be killed. That’s why Muslims say the death sentence must be maintained.”
He said the abolition of the death sentence that the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative was gunning for, should be ignored.
He condemned those who sacrifice children in search for wealth, saying riches were a blessing from God and not from Satan.
“We read in the papers the child sacrifices going on in Mukono and other districts. These acts don’t please God, that’s why we no longer get rain but disasters like the tsunamis that killed thousands of people (in Asia),” he said.
Those who attended included Kampala deputy mayor Hasib Takuba Kabuye and Masindi RDC Hassan Galiwango.
